Thistle kicked off and attacked from the start and Ferguson opened the scoring. Port equalised but by half-time it was 3-1 (Hislop (2)). In the second half Hislop completed his hat-trick and Paul also scored. Port pulled one back but it was a comfortable win in a keenly contested match.
