Renton took an early lead, despite the excellent play of Proudfoot at the back. Shooting was still “wretched” (SC) and it was 2-0 on the half-hour mark. Thistle had the better of the second half but Renton scored a 3rd on the break after McCorkindale had been “earthed” (GH) by a stinging shot.
