A weakened Thistle side took the lead through Hislop at a corner (3). McKay doubled the lead after half-time. Saints had some decent spells of pressure but tried to walk the ball into the net far too often. They played most of the game with 10 men – their full-back appearing late. Their “clever, gentlemanly play” (SCL) was much admired however.
