The Cowlairs opener is credited to McInnes in the SCL, but Hamilton in the GEP. We side with McInnes as per the SCL as that's the only paper which lists both the first and second half scorers, so it seems logical to go “all the way” with their account. The only slight exception is that we've taken Thistle's equalizer to be a “Scrimmage” per the GEP report, with neither the SCL nor the EC making an offer on that one.

Cowlairs took the lead but when a free-kick came off the bar it was headed in for 1-1 (scorer unknown). After that Cowlairs were on top and Thistle shipped four goals without reply until Paul reduced the lead with “a grand shot” (SCL). A late goal restored the 4- goal deficit. Thistle had some good performances but Cowlairs had more to offer.
