The NBDM reports state that Renton were 3 up before Thistle scored. As if that wasn't bad enough, reports disagree on the identity of our first scorer! NBDM says a shot by Suter hit the post and rebounded to Marshall and Buchanan and “a fine piece of breasting by the forwards carried a neat goal”. The NBDM actually names the second scorer, and they go with Bob Marshall, so we're inclined to go along with that. Horrible stuff for historians all in all.

A good crowd turned out…to see “the famous Renton“ (GH). They scored (2) but Thistle were very much in the match, even when 2 more goals made for an uphill task. Paul hit the bar and Suter headed in the rebound for 3-1 at half-time. Suter scored again but Renton were too good and scored again.
