  • Teamlines per EC, OH concurs.
dubious goals panel
  • The OH/GH/SC/AYA/APJ/SU all say it was 6-2, whilst the EC/GT/NBDM say it was 7-2. No report is particularly deep or persuasive. A clue as to the confusion comes in the GT which refers to a headed Willie Paul goal which was successfully appealed against; this would seem to imply that 6-2 would be correct, although the GT itself still states 7-2! The NBDM also states that Paul scored an offside goal, but also states the score was 7-2. Further, there is a dispute as to the identity of the scorer of Thistle's third goal. The OH (by process of elimination) credits Willie Paul, but the EC/SC/GT/NBDM all say it was from a scrimmage. The SU has a tantalising quote “Paul was in great form for the PT against Morton, scoring five of the six goals”, but this is brought into disrepute as it implies that Willie scored the fourth, itself the source of another dispute. With no confirmed reports for Paul as the scorer of the third, we must therefore view the third goalscorer as unknown. The OH credits James Miller with scoring one for Thistle, and we'd presume this to be the fourth, as per the accounts in the GT/NBDM. However, the aforementioned SU contends that Willie scored all three of the second half goals (as well as the opener). On balance, we dismiss that view and, for the fourth, we've stuck with Miller as per GT/NBDM/OH. There was either no paper or no report at the DR/GEN/ET/SR. We've tried hard on this one!
