A record 8,000 crowd at Inchview saw a rousing cup tie. It was goalless at half-time although Paul had hit the post. Marshall scored twice in 2 minutes after the break (54, shot on the angle then 55, a dipping effort). Rangers had most of the play after that and scored (85) but Thistle defended well for the win.
