Port were clearly the better team and Thistle trailed 3-0 at half-time. Johnston reduced the lead then Suter scored from a goalmouth scramble a minute later “amid loud cheers“ (GT). More cheers rang out when he scored again. Port had Thistle under pressure until Suter scored off a post for his hat-trick.
