A big crowd gathered to see the cup holders. Play was evenly matched. Renton scored but Thistle equalised just on half-time (Marshall) and went on to score again (Miller) after a fine 3-man move (75). “Renton showed some really beautiful play and caused Duff to use his hands on two or three occasions” (GH).
