Thistle played well and the score was rather sore on them. Vale opened on the break but Thistle levelled from a scrimmage (Vale claiming a foul). A devastating display saw 4 goals before half-time (Thistle claiming one was off-side). Thistle had a “goal“ deemed not over the line. They missed an open goal and Vale ran up the park to score again. Young finished off a fine move just on time.

A good game was the result of the meeting between the Vale of Leven and Partick Thistle. The latter, although aided by Inglis, of the Rangers, lost by six goals to two, and I believe, from the manner the Vale played, that the defeat would have been greater but for the ground, which is certainly not a credit to the Thistle.
