Despite the wind and rain in their faces Thistle took the lead (Ewing, 3). After some Partick pressure Suter made it 2-0 at half-time. A 3rd goal by Paterson following a corner put Thistle well ahead. Partick fought on and pulled a goal back but it wasn't enough. “A great deal of excitement was caused locally” (AN).

These two Glasgow teams met on the ground of the Partick Club on Saturday. The Thistle kicked off against a strong wind, and after play had been in operation a few minutes the Thistle right wing took the ball in front of goal, when Ewing shot it through. The Partick men now attempted some good runs, but Brown and Hendry kept their line well clear, and shortly afterwards Suter, by a nice dodgy run, scored a second goal for his side. After half-time the Partick team made strenuous efforts to equalise matters, but for a time were unsuccessful, and Paterson scored another point for the Thistle. Eventually however, from a fine run made by the Partick right, Baxter obtained a chance, and scored the first goal for his side, the game ultimately ending in a victory for the Partick Thistle by three goals to one.
