“…played before meagre attendance. Owing to the late arrival of the strangers two 35s were played. Beith won by four goals to three” (GH). “One of the best games played at Beith for a long time” (AN). Having gone behind in 10 mins, Thistle drew the second half 3-3! The winner came in the dying seconds.

Beith scored a most creditable victory over the Partick Thistle. The game was well contested in the first half, only one goal being scored, but in the second half goal after goal was scored, and at the end four were registered in favour of Beith and three in favour of the Thistle. It was one of the best games that has been played in Beith for a long time, and the spectators seemed to relish it, as at the close their joy knew no bounds. Beith has lost much of the glory that encircled it when W. M'Guire played for them, and a win such as that of Saturday has the effect of cheering the supporters of the game in that town.
