VICTORIA (HELENSBURGH) v. PARTICK THISTLE. Played on the ground of the former on Saturday afternoon with most unfavourable weather, a strong wind blowing across the field, and occasionally heavy showers. The Thistle kicked off, but the ball was smartly returned by the home team, who followed it up, and made a good bid for goal. Duff (the goalkeeper) dislodged the ball, which was carried into the ground of the Helensburgh. Play afterwards partook of a give-and-take nature. On ends being changed, the Helensburgh showed to better advantage and made repeated charges at goal, but were unsuccessful in scoring. The Thistle then ran the ball up the field and secured a goal, the game thus resulting in their favour by one goal to nothing.
