Martin Murphy Ferguson was born on Monday, 21st December, 1942, in Glasgow.

The 6' 2 (12st 0lbs) midfielder signed for Willie Thornton's Thistle circa Saturday, 16th December, 1961, having most recently been with Kirkintilloch Rob Roy.

Aged 19, he made his debut appearance on Wednesday, 15th August, 1962, in a 3-1 win away to Falkirk in the League Cup.

Martin scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 8th September, 1962, in a 5-1 win at home to Clyde in the SFL First Division.

He scored the last of his 3 goals on Monday, 18th November, 1963, in a 3-2 win at home to Spartak ZJÅ  Brno in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 24th October, 1964, in a 2-1 defeat at home to Motherwell in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 25 occasions.
