Martin Clark |
Martin John Clark was born on Sunday, 13th October, 1968, in Holytown, North Lanarkshire. The 5' 9 (11st 4lbs) defender signed for John Lambie's Thistle on Friday, 17th July, 1992, having most recently been with Mansfield Town. Aged 23, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 18th July, 1992, in a 3-1 friendly win away to Buckie Thistle. There were no goals for Martin during his time with Thistle. He played his last game for the club on Tuesday, 14th December, 1993, in a 2-1 defeat away to Aberdeen in the SFL Premier Division, having appeared as a Jag on 26 occasions. Martin's club-list included Hamilton Academical, Clyde, Nottingham Forest, Falkirk, Mansfield Town, Partick Thistle, Albion Rovers and Armadale Thistle. |
Like Gordon Chisholm, Clark was signed to help fill the gap created by the departures of Duffy and Rae. The former Clyde and Notts Forest defender who was signed from Mansfield Town enjoyed a good start to his Thistle career but an injury kept him out of the team and by the time of his return Davie Irons was firmly established in his position. Rejoined Clyde halfway through his second season at Firhill. |
