Mark Hutton |
![]() Mark Stephen Hutton was born on Saturday, 29th November, 1975, in Falkirk. The 5' 11 (12st 5lbs) goalkeeper was introduced to John Lambie's Thistle early in 1995. Aged 19, he was listed as a substitute for the one and only time on Saturday, 25th February, 1995, in a 2-0 defeat away to Dundee United in the SFL Premier Division. There were no registered first-team appearances for Mark in his time at Thistle. His club-list included St Johnstone, Partick Thistle and Shettleston Juniors. |
![]() Mark, a product of Possilpark YMCA, was an internationalist at U-16 level for Scotland and spent most of his mid to late teens at St Johnstone, before switching to Thistle during 1994-95. All Premier League clubs were obliged to run a team for the Premier Reserve League in 1994-95, and Mark would share duties with Mark Cairns at that level. An injury sustained by Nicky Walker in action for Scotland 'B' meant that the first team was short for the trip to Tannadice in February 1995, and Mark Cairns came in at #1 to make his competitive debut in the 2-0 loss. This was the second season in which listing a substitute keeper became a thing, and thus the teenage Mark Hutton was duly listed on the bench for the one and only time, as Nicky Walker returned to action the very next week. Mark signed a pro contract with Murdo MacLeod's Thistle in August 1995, and was farmed out to Shettleston Juniors to continue his development. He did make several appearances for the Thistle Reserves in 1995-96, but never did make the first-team breakthrough. |
