Aged 25, he made his debut appearance on Friday, 17th February, 1995, in a 2-0 friendly win away to Ayr United. In doing so, Mark joined the goalies' clean-sheet debutant's club. Previously on the books of Hearts, Mark was spotted playing against Thistle for Gala Fairydean in a pre-season friendly. Initially signed as a back up keeper he played a number of games in the Premier League when injuries kept Nelson and Walker out of the side. Upon Walker's departure to Aberdeen Cairns shared the goalkeeping duties for a season with John Hillcoat before signing for Alloa after being given a free transfer in one of the many Firhill clear outs. |
