 Alexander Clark was born on Sunday, 28th October, 1956, in Airdrie, North Lanarkshire. He had one spell as manager at Firhill. MANAGERIAL SPELL(Fri-03-Nov-1989 ↔ Fri-02-Mar-1990; 119 days) Sandy Clark's playing career had been coming to a troublesome end due to an ankle injury, and he had been operating as first team coach at Tynecastle. The Thistle job was his first step onto the managerial ladder, and he soon learned that it was no easy task, especially following in John Lambie's footsteps.
“It just wasn't the same” was the player's sentiment, and Thistle dropped like a stone, the heart seemingly ripped out of them. Clark was asked to resign, refused, and was promptly sacked, just 4 months into the job. Thistle had to compensate him for the best part of the remaining two years in his contract. Sandy was in charge of Thistle for 17 games in total, as well as managing at Heart of Midlothian (1993-1994), Hamilton Academical (1996-1998), St Johnstone (1998-2001), Berwick Rangers (2004-2005), East Stirlingshire (2022-23) and Albion Rovers (2023 to date). |
