● Murdo MacLeod, 1995 (GI) Murdo Davidson MacLeod was born on Wednesday, 24th September, 1958, in Glasgow. He had one spell as manager at Firhill. MANAGERIAL SPELL (Mon-14-Aug-1995 ↔ Fri-23-May-1997; 1y,9m,9d) Murdo MacLeod was ending his playing career at Dumbarton where he was player-manager. He had recently won promotion with the Sons and his stock was high. When Thistle came calling, his side were sitting top of Division 1, with 2 wins from 2. The Sons, the Bairns and Thistle were all relegated - there's a lesson in there somewhere! Failure to bounce back cost him his job; MacLeod, and his assistant, Gordon Chisholm, were sacked in May, 1997, after an uninspiring mid-table campaign in which Thistle finished 32 points adrift of the champion club, St Johnstone. Murdo was in charge of Thistle for 89 games in total, and also managed at Dumbarton (1993-1995).
