Bio Extra

Malcolm was an out and out right winger who played a couple of trial games for Thistle (under the psuedonym "Phillips") in August 1925 before he was signed to terms the following month. He was a schoolboy at Whitehill Secondary and played for the local team, Dennistoun Juniors, when he was old enough. He spent one season at Thistle, but was mainly confined to the reserves who had a poor campaign. Malcolm did make 4 league appearances as a Jag, and got off to a flyer when he put Thistle two up at Easter Road on his competitive debut. It counted too in a game of fluctuating fortunes which ended Hibernian 3 Partick Thistle 4! In a quest for game time, Malcolm switched to Second Division Albion Rovers in September 1926 but, again, was largely confined to the reserves, making just 4 league appearances (again scoring once!) that term before dropping out of the senior game.
