Bio Extra

Liam, who has been with The Jags since he was eight, scored a long-range goal in 2023-24 as the Thistle youngsters triumphed in The Foyle Cup and was a stand-out as they secured further silverware in The CAS Cup. In 2024-25, the left sided centre back stepped out of his defensive duties to find the net when (holders) Rangers were seen off 5-3 in the Scottish FA Youth Cup. With his progress made, he was rewarded with the opportunity to train with the first team in the springtime of 2025.

Stepping up from the Partick Thistle Youth Academy, Liam signed a two-year modern apprenticeship with the club on 8th May 2025. Academy director Craig Dargo said:

This is an exciting day for Liam who has been with us since December 2017 and during that time he was frequently played at a higher age level. Those games have helped develop him and the next stage in his development is to train regularly with the First Team. He will be doing that soon. Liam has seen his academy team-mates Matty Falconer, Jamie Low, Nick Lockhart, Ben McKenna Liam Rooney involved in senior games for Partick Thistle, and Ceiran Loney earn a move to Everton. That has inspired him, and he now has a great platform to build on.

With Thistle trailing Livingston by 4 goals to nil (on aggregate) in the play-off semi finals of May 2025, the atmosphere was relaxed enough to give youth a run-out, and Liam came on for Stuart Bannigan for around 10 minutes of the game at Almondvale Stadium. In doing so, he set an impressive club-record, becoming the youngest Jag in history to make a competitive appearance (16y, 0m, 19d), taking over from Ji Stevenson (16y, 1m, 6d) who had held the accolade since September, 2021.
