Bio Extra

Originally from Barrhead, just outside of Glasgow, Ashcroft started his senior career at Kilmarnock with his first team debut coming late in the 2012/13 campaign. He made 71 appearances for Killie before spending four seasons with Dunfermline Athletic where he featured more than 150 times in all competitions. He left East End Park for Dundee in 2020, getting promoted to the Premiership in his first season at Dens Park; contributing seven goals in 33 games including one in the second leg of the play-off final against his former club, Kilmarnock.

He was also a key member of the Dundee side that was promoted to the top flight as champions in 2022/23, again scoring in the promotion-clinching game; a 5-3 win over Queen’s Park on the final day of the league season. He was voted into the PFA Scotland Championship Team of the Year during both of his campaigns in the second tier with the Dee. In 2023-24 he played 13 times for Dundee before deciding to go out on loan to Raith Rovers in search of game time, however, a hamstring injury picked up during his debut ended his season prematurely.

Upon signing for Thistle in June 2024, Jags manager Kris Doolan said:

Lee is a player who I’ve admired for a long time. I came up against him plenty of times during my playing days and he was never the sort of defender to give you an easy game. He’s dominant in the air, committed in his tackling and someone who also brings plenty of experience to a back line. The last two seasons he’s spent in the Championship he’s been promoted and named in the Team of the Year which shows you the level of player he is. I know last season would have been a frustrating one for him so he’ll come here hungry to get back playing which is great for the competition in the squad.
