  • Firstly Thistle then Kilmarnock had been lined up to play in the inaugural Western League for season 1898-99, but Thistle jumped ship to play instead in the Glasgow League and replacements Killie pulled out without kicking a ball. Both sides, as well as Clyde, returned to the fold for season 1899-00, replacing Ayr Parkhouse, Abercorn, Ayr and Linthouse.
