  • The inaugural SFL Second Division competition, all clubs having being elected to fill these newly created positions within the Scottish Football League.
  • Abercorn and Clyde had played together in last season's SFL.
  • Cowlairs, Glasgow Thistle, Northern and Partick Thistle had played together in last season's Scottish Alliance. All had been scheduled to play in the 1893-94 Alliance.
  • Port Glasgow Athletic and Morton had been non-League last season. Both had been scheduled to play in the 1893-94 Alliance.
  • Motherwell were the sole club to be elected from last season's Scottish Federation.
  • The newly reformed Hibernian were playing their first ever League season.
  • 2 points for a win.
  • Those finishing level on points were deemed equal in their table placing.
  • Port Glasgow Athletic were deducted 7 points.
