notes
  • 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw. Teams finishing level on points were placed in order of superior goal difference, then by goals scored.
  • Drawn matches were concluded with a penalty shoot-out, the winner of which earned a bonus point.
  • In this season, group stages were reintroduced to the League Cup for the first time since 1983-84. Scotland's 4 European representatives were given a bye, and 2 non-League teams were allowed into the tournament. The 40 teams were split into two sub groups geographically, and seeded to ensure that top teams and lesser teams were drawn against each other across the 8 groups. 8 group winners and the 4 best runners up advanced to the round of 16 single-legged knockout phase, where they were joined by the 'big 4'.
  • Queen of the South qualified for the second round as one of the 4 best runners-up across the 8 groups.
  • Table figures per spfl.co.uk, with the data integrity verified by The Thistle Archive.
  • For the 12th time out of 34 (1946-47 to date) Thistle win their League Cup group, and progress to the 2nd Round (R2).||
  • Thistle finish with maximum points in a League Cup Group for only the second time, following Bertie's Jags of 1975.
