• The Juli-Cuppen was organised and hosted by Västerhaninge Idrottsförening, a football club from a suburb of Stockholm, established in 1925 and still going today on a minor level. They had big ambitions in 1972 and the intention of the tournament was to raise the profile of the club. 7 clubs took part in the 9 day tournament, 15-23 July 1972. Partick Thistle, an attraction as League Cup winners, represented Scotland, whilst Manchester City (the eventual winners) and Hull City represented England. Sweden had 4 clubs involved; Allmänna Idrottsklubben, Sirius, Västerhaninge and Hammarby. With special thanks to Drew Herbertson (ex SFA) and Jonny Ahlvin (Swedish FA) for their assistance with locating this full reproduction of the original programme.
