born in Scotland

Joshua Kelman Reid was born on Friday, 3rd May, 2002, in Dingwall, Ross-shire.

The 5' 9 (11st 0lbs) defender temporarily transferred to Kris Doolan's Thistle on Thursday, 13th February, 2025, from his parent club, Ross County.

Aged 22, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 15th February, 2025, in a 3-0 defeat away to Raith Rovers in the SPFL Championship.

There were no goals for Josh during his spell with Thistle.

He played his last game for the club on Friday, 25th April, 2025, in a 2-1 win at home to Falkirk in the SPFL Championship, having appeared as a Jag on 9 occasions.

At May, 2025, his club-list included Ross County, Coventry City, Stevenage and Partick Thistle.

Bio Extra

A product of County’s youth system, Reid, a left back, made his first team debut for the Staggies as a starter in a 1-0 Scottish Premiership win over Motherwell in August 2020. He’d go on to play 24 times in the subsequent five months before earning a January move to Coventry City in the English second tier. During his time as a Sky Blue, Josh spent time on loan with Stevenage and received international recognition as part of the Scotland under 21s squad but decided to move back to Ross County in the summer of 2023. In his first season back in the Highlands he played 24 times, including 14 starts, and made nine further appearances in 2024-25. In mid-February 2025, Thistle took advantage of the loan system rules by bringing in a top-tier player for the duration of 2024-25. On the signing, Kris Doolan said:

With Charlie Sayers and Harry Milne both departing in January, it was pretty clear we needed reinforcements at left-back. The loan market can be a tricky one to work in but we feel Josh will be a very strong addition to the squad. He fits the mould of what we want from that position; he’s a strong runner, a committed defender and someone who isn’t afraid to put the ball in the box for the attackers. We’re really looking forward to working with him for the remainder of the season.

For his debut a couple of days later, Josh came on as a second half substitute into Thistle's nadir performance under Kris Doolan's reign, and he was helpless (and blameless) to affect the horrendous 3-0 defeat away to Raith Rovers. After the match, it was Josh who was pulled onto the pitch for the Jagzone interview - a compliment to his decent showing as per the normal criteria for post-match interviews. Unfortunately, this was held up for social media criticism, folks opining that a senior pro should have been hauled up for an interrogation! Kris Doolan was sacked 3 days after the Stark's Park debacle. Josh was doing well under the new Graham / Wilson interim management team, and his record ended with less than a goal-per-game being conceded. Unfortunately, he pulled his hamstring in the second last league game of the season vs. Falkirk, effectively ending his short loan spell at Firhill.
