John Workman was born on Monday, 27th June, 1966, in Glasgow.

The 5' 9½ (10st 3lbs) defender signed for Benny Rooney's Thistle circa Saturday, 9th June, 1984, having most recently been with Drumchapel Amateurs.

Aged 18, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 28th July, 1984, in a 2-0 friendly defeat away to Queen's Park.

There were no goals for John during his time with Thistle.

He played his last game for the club on Tuesday, 18th April, 1989, in a 1-0 win away to Queen's Park in the Glasgow Cup, having clocked up 129 appearances as a Jag.

John's club-list included Drumchapel Amateurs, Partick Thistle, Stranraer and East Stirlingshire.
