John A. Wilson was born on Wednesday, 3rd March, 1965, in Edinburgh.

The goalkeeper temporarily transferred to Benny Rooney's Thistle in November, 1984, from his parent club, Celtic.

Aged 19, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 3rd November, 1984, in a 0-0 draw away to Kilmarnock in the SFL First Division.

In doing so, John joined the goalies' clean-sheet debutant's club.

He kept his second and last clean-sheet on Saturday, 10th November, 1984, in a 2-0 win at home to Meadowbank Thistle in the SFL First Division.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 24th November, 1984, in a 7-3 defeat at home to St Johnstone in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 4 occasions.

John's club-list included Preston Athletic, Celtic, Partick Thistle, Berwick Rangers and Hibernian.

Bio Extra

Signed on loan to cover for the injured John Brough, he started well in his time at Firhill with two shut-outs, but had an appalling game against St. Johnstone when he conceded 7 goals. He left Firhill and returned to Celtic, before joining Berwick Rangers.
