 John Muir was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The forward appeared as a trialist for George Easton's Thistle in April, 1925, whilst a Dalry Thistle player. He made his only appearance on Wednesday, 29th April, 1925, in a 2-2 friendly draw away to Ayr United. There were no goals for John in his one-off appearance for Thistle. His club-list included Battlefield Juniors, Dalry Thistle and Partick Thistle. We don't know where or when John died. *

 John, a right winger, was a Glasgow boy who moved on from Battlefield to Dalry Thistle. As a player with the latter, he won two Junior Scotland caps in April 1925. In front of 6,000 at Colwyn Bay, he appeared in a 4-0 win over Wales before travelling on to Birmingham the following week as the Scots went down to England by 4 goals to 1, also in front of a 6,000 crowd. At the time, Thistle raided the Scots team for three players, signing the left-wing pair of Harry Corrance and David McLean, as well as offering a trial to John Muir. He was reportedly the son of a prominent Daily Record journalist. |
