John Duffy McCormack was born on Monday, 25th April, 1955, in Glasgow. The defender signed for Billy Lamont's Thistle on Saturday, 17th October, 1987, having most recently been with Airdrieonians. Aged 32, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 17th October, 1987, in a 1-0 win at home to Hamilton Academical in the SFL First Division. There were no goals for John during his time with Thistle. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 7th May, 1988, in a 1-0 defeat at home to Kilmarnock in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 24 occasions. John's club-list included Duntocher Hibernian, St Roch's, Clydebank, St Mirren, Dundee, Airdrieonians and Partick Thistle. |
John was signed from Airdrie, having previously played with Clydebank and St Mirren, during an injury crisis in the Thistle defence. His performances were determined and he could lift others around him with his effort. His excellent reading of the game compensated for his lack of speed. Work commitments made it impossible for him to play on the following season. |
