John Divers was born on Friday, 8th March, 1940, in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire.

The 5' 10 (12st 10lbs) forward signed for Willie Thornton's Thistle on Friday, 30th September, 1966, having most recently been with Celtic.

Aged 26, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 1st October, 1966, in a 2-2 draw at home to St Mirren in the SFL First Division.

John scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 8th October, 1966, in a 5-3 win away to St Johnstone in the SFL First Division.

He scored the last of his 6 goals on Saturday, 19th April, 1969, in a 2-2 draw away to Falkirk in the SFL First Division.

That turned out to be his last game for the club, having appeared as a Jag on 35 occasions.

His club-list included Glentyan Thistle, Celtic, Renfrew, Partick Thistle and Strathclyde University.

John died on Tuesday, 23rd September, 2014, in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire, aged 74.
