John Callander was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. *

The forward signed for George Easton's Thistle on Tuesday, 18th June, 1907, having most recently been with Benburb.

He made his debut appearance on Saturday, 17th August, 1907, in a 2-2 draw at home to Morton in the SFL First Division.

John scored his first goal for Thistle on Thursday, 20th August, 1908, in a 3-2 win away to Clyde in a Benefit match.

He scored the last of his 5 goals on Saturday, 13th March, 1909, in a 4-2 defeat away to Hamilton Academical in the SFL First Division.

He played his last game for the club on Wednesday, 28th April, 1909, in a 1-0 defeat away to Heart of Midlothian in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 32 occasions.

His club-list included Benburb and Partick Thistle.
