John Baird was born on Thursday, 22nd August, 1985, in Glasgow. The 5' 8 (11st 10lbs) forward signed for Alan Archibald's Thistle on Friday, 31st May, 2013, having most recently been with Dundee. Aged 27, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 6th July, 2013, in a 2-1 neutral-venue friendly defeat against Gateshead. That day, John became a member of our scoring debutant's club with his only goal for Thistle. He played his last game for the club on Sunday, 5th January, 2014, in a 2-0 win away to Heart of Midlothian in the SPFL Premiership, having appeared as a Jag on 23 occasions. At September, 2023, John's club-list included Clyde, St Mirren, Stenhousemuir, Montrose, Brechin City, Airdrie United, Raith Rovers, Dundee, Partick Thistle, Queen of the South, Falkirk, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Greenock Morton, Forfar Athletic and Mandurah City. |
![]() A man of many of many clubs who signed for newly promoted Thistle in May 2013. The striker made a promising start by scoring on his debut in a pre-season friendly, however, on 28 January 2014, he was released after an unsuccessful spell. He started 4 games and appeared from the bench 13 times, but failed to score a single competitive goal. Assumed a player/assistant manager role at Forfar in 2018-19, where he was very succesful, scoring 22 goals in 44 competitive appearances that term. Baird and his family relocated to Western Australia in June 2020. There he joined Mandurah City, and became their head coach, whilst continuing as a player. He signed Leigh Griffiths to the club in August 2022. |
