Joseph Murray was born on Saturday, 13th June, 1914, in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire.

The 5' 8 (11st 6lbs) midfielder appeared for Donald Turner's Thistle in October, 1938, having most recently been with Brentford.

Aged 24, he made his only appearance on Saturday, 1st October, 1938, in a 4-2 defeat away to Kilmarnock in the SFL First Division.

There were no goals for Joe in his one-off appearance for Thistle.

His club-list included Overton Athletic, Hamilton Academical, Brentford, Partick Thistle, Stenhousemuir, Burnbank Athletic, Blantyre Celtic and Thorniewood United.

Joe died on Thursday, 2nd December, 1971, in Strathaven, South Lanarkshire, aged 57.
