 James McColl was born on Wednesday, 14th December, 1892, in Glasgow. The 5' 6½ (10st 9lbs) forward signed for George Easton's Thistle on Saturday, 1st October, 1921, having most recently been with Stoke. Aged 28, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 8th October, 1921, in a 1-0 win away to Albion Rovers in the SFL First Division. That day, Jimmy became a member of our scoring debutant's club. He scored the last of his 21 goals on Wednesday, 6th September, 1922, in a 2-1 neutral venue defeat to Celtic in a Benefit match. He played his last game for the club on Monday, 25th September, 1922, in a 1-1 draw away to Third Lanark in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 47 occasions. His club-list included St Anthony's, Peebles Rovers, Celtic, Stoke, Partick Thistle, Hibernian and Leith Athletic. Jimmy died on Tuesday, 7th March, 1978, in Edinburgh, aged 85. |
