James Gillan Mallon was born on Sunday, 28th August, 1938, in Glasgow.

The 5' 10 (11st 7lbs) forward signed for Davie Meiklejohn's Thistle circa Saturday, 7th April, 1956, having most recently been with Shawfield.

Aged 17, he made his debut appearance on Thursday, 3rd May, 1956, in a 6-3 friendly win away to Nairn County.

That day, Jimmy achieved the rare feat of scoring a hat-trick on his debut!

He scored the last of his 12 goals on Monday, 4th November, 1957, in a 3-2 friendly defeat away to Coventry City.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 9th November, 1957, in a 5-1 defeat away to Hibernian in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 15 occasions.

His club-list included Shawfield, Partick Thistle, Stirling Albion, Oldham Athletic, Stranraer, Morton, Barrow and Altrincham.

Jimmy died on Wednesday, 9th May, 2012, aged 73.
