![]() James Slavin was born on Saturday, 18th January, 1975, in Lanark, South Lanarkshire. The 6' 2 (14st 0lbs) defender signed for Murdo MacLeod's Thistle on Friday, 15th March, 1996, having most recently been with Celtic. Aged 21, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 16th March, 1996, in a 2-1 win away to Falkirk in the SFL Premier Division. Jim scored his only goal for Thistle on Tuesday, 30th July, 1996, in a 3-0 friendly win away to Glentoran. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 10th May, 1997, in a 2-0 defeat away to St Mirren in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 39 occasions. Jim's club-list included Giffnock North, Celtic, Partick Thistle and Wishaw. |
![]() Nicknamed, not inappropriately,"The Honey Monster" by the Thistle fans, Slavin made the switch from Celtic Park to Firhill towards the end of the 95/96 season. Was an ever present in the Thistle team until the end of the season, playing in both play-off games with Dundee United and was a regular in the first team at the start of the following season. However, a long-standing problem with his weight never improved. He lost his place in the side and was given a free transfer at the season's conclusion. |
