James McGinley was born on Saturday, 15th March, 1969, in Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The 5' 10 (11st 7lbs) forward signed for Billy Lamont's Thistle circa Saturday, 9th April, 1988, having most recently been with Petershill. Aged 19, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 30th July, 1988, in a 2-0 friendly win away to Alloa Athletic. Jim scored his only goal for Thistle on Friday, 5th August, 1988, in a 3-2 friendly win away to Portadown. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 15th October, 1988, in a 3-1 defeat at home to Falkirk in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 9 occasions. Jim's club-list included Petershill, Partick Thistle, Yoker Athletic and Dumbarton. |
