The forward signed for Derek Johnstone's Thistle on Saturday, 29th November, 1986, having most recently been with Pollok.

He made his debut appearance on Monday, 1st December, 1986, in a 4-3 friendly defeat away to Preston North End.

That day, Jim became a member of our scoring debutant's club.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 13th December, 1986, in a 2-1 win away to Forfar Athletic in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 3 occasions.
