James Doyle was born on Sunday, 1st October, 1961, in Glasgow.

The 5' 9 (10st 3lbs) midfielder signed for Bertie Auld's Thistle on Tuesday, 25th July, 1978, having most recently been with Auchengill Boys Club.

Aged 16, he made his debut appearance on Monday, 31st July, 1978, in a 3-1 defeat away to East Kilbride Thistle in a Benefit match.

Jamie scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 20th October, 1979, in a 1-1 draw away to Aberdeen in the SFL Premier Division.

He scored the last of his 12 goals on Saturday, 4th February, 1984, in a 3-1 win at home to Falkirk in the SFL First Division.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 24th October, 1987, in a 4-3 defeat away to Raith Rovers in the SFL First Division, having clocked up an impressive 218 appearances as a Jag.

Jamie's club-list included Partick Thistle, Motherwell, Dumbarton, Morwell Falcons and Glenafton Athletic.
