James McKay Wightman was born on Wednesday, 16th February, 1994, in Livingston, West Lothian. The 5' 10 (12st 4lbs) goalkeeper signed for Jackie McNamara's Thistle on Thursday, 9th June, 2011, having most recently been with Celtic. Aged 17, he was listed as a substitute for the first time on Tuesday, 19th July, 2011, in a 4-1 friendly defeat away to Dumbarton. There were no registered first-team appearances for James in his time at Thistle. James's club-list included Celtic, Partick Thistle and Blackburn United. |
Promising young 'keeper who played 10 times for Scotland at U-15, U-16 and U-17 levels from 2009 to 2011. Making the move from Celtic in the close season of 2011, the 17-year-old signed a two year modern apprenticeship deal with Thistle, alongside Jonathon Black, Aaron Sekhon and David Wilson. Spent two seasons with the Thistle Development squad but never got his chance in the first team, always behind Scott Fox, Craig Hinchliffe, Graeme Smith and Ryan Scully in the pecking order. Last heard of in the juniors with Blackburn United from 2013 to 2015. |
