James Watson was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The midfielder signed for Thistle on Saturday, 18th June, 1898, having most recently been with Glasgow Perthshire. He made his first known appearance on Saturday, 3rd September, 1898, in a 4-1 defeat at home to Hibernian in the SFL First Division. James scored his only known goal for Thistle on Tuesday, 3rd January, 1899, in an 8-2 defeat at home to Rangers in the Glasgow League. He played his last known game for the club on Wednesday, 3rd May, 1899, in a 4-0 defeat away to Queen's Park in the Glasgow League, having appeared for the Thistle on at least 23 occasions. His club-list included Glasgow Perthshire, Partick Thistle and Morton. We don't know where or when James died. *
