James Paul was born on Friday, 18th July, 1879 in Partick, Glasgow. The forward signed for Thistle in the late 1890s. Aged 19, he made his first known appearance on Saturday, 18th February, 1899, in a 2-1 win away to Morton in the Scottish Cup. James scored his only known goal for Thistle on Saturday, 25th February, 1899, in a 7-3 defeat away to Port Glasgow Athletic in the Scottish Cup. He played his last known game for the club on Saturday, 21st October, 1899, in a 2-1 defeat away to Ayr in the SFL Second Division, having appeared for the Thistle on at least 8 occasions. His club-list included Partick Thistle and Hamilton Academical. We don't know where or when James died. *
