| James Miller |
James Miller was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The forward joined Thistle in August, 1884. He made his first known appearance on Saturday, 23rd August, 1884, in a 4-2 friendly win at home to Morton. James scored his first known goal for Thistle on Saturday, 6th September, 1884, in a 4-1 friendly defeat away to St Mirren. He scored the last of his 21 known goals on Saturday, 12th November, 1892, in a 1-1 draw at home to Celtic in the Glasgow Cup. That turned out to be his last known game for the club, having appeared for the Thistle on at least 75 occasions. His known club-list included only Partick Thistle. We don't know where or when James died. *

![]() This player's back story and Thistle career seems unclear. It would appear he had two spells ("James Miller" crops up in contemporary reports for both periods), mid to late 1880s and then again in the early 1890s, with two seasons of non action between (1889-90 & 1890-91). Of course, it could be they are two different players, we may never know. Confusing matters further, there is an unknown J. Miller credited in the Official History book with 2 appearances in 1892-93, the two (James Miller & J. Miller) having both appeared in the same team (1/10/1892). |
