James D. Anderson was probably born in Scotland, although his place and date of birth remain unknown to us. * The forward signed for Donald Turner's Thistle on Saturday, 10th April, 1943, having most recently been with Newarthill Hearts. He made his debut appearance on Saturday, 10th April, 1943, in a 1-1 draw away to Third Lanark in the Southern League. James scored his first goal for Thistle on Saturday, 5th June, 1943, in a 5-2 defeat at home to Hibernian in the Summer Cup. He scored the last of his 5 goals on Saturday, 13th November, 1943, in a 6-1 win at home to Third Lanark in the Southern League. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 25th December, 1943, in a 2-1 defeat away to Albion Rovers in the Southern League, having appeared as a Jag on 14 occasions. James's club-list included Newarthill Hearts, Partick Thistle and Dumbarton.
