Bio Extra

This left back was called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-18 Schools team after he impressed coaches with his performances for his school team Confey College from Leixlip. Carroll made his debut against Australia in a friendly when he came on from the bench in the 69th minute. He then started in the Carnegie Centenary Shield against Northern Ireland in a 1–0 loss.

The Dubliner started his career with St Patrick's Athletic in 2011, and he spent three successful seasons in the first team, where he played Europa League football and made over 50 appearances in all competitions. His form with St Pat's brought him to the attention of others and, in April 2013, he completed a move to Huddersfield Town for an undisclosed fee, thought to be in the region of €150,000. He made his debut for his new club in August 2013 in a Capital One Cup tie against Bradford City and, in the second half of 2013-14, he spent time on loan with League Two side Bury.

Arriving at Firhill in August 2014, Jake turned out for Thistle on 14 occasions during a 4 month loan spell, early personal highlights being the 3-1 home League win over Inverness CT and the 1-0 home win over St Mirren in the League Cup. He departed Huddersfield in the close season of 2015 and, after 4 seasons spent between Hartlepool United and Cambridge United, he spent 4 seasons with Motherwell from 2019-2023, making 77 appearances in all competitions, a tally which was severely hampered by long spells out of the game due to injury. After having been ruled out for the entirety of the 2022–23 season, his departure from Fir Park was announced in June 2023.
