Bio Extra

He was described as Partick Virginia's "crack left back" when he joined Thistle, initially on the understanding that he would play with the 'Swifts' i.e. the reserves. With that in mind, it's likely that he was a younger player. He was a fringe member in first-team terms, but could proudly claim that he played in Partick Thistle's first two 'League' seasons, making 5 appearances in the Scottish Alliance. By contrast, his two appearances in the Spring 1892 tour of England would have given him cause for embarrassment, 9-1 defeats being recorded at Bootle and at Wednesday. Oh dear.
