![]() Charles Hunter Lyle was born on Thursday, 27th December, 1906, in Rothesay, Argyll and Bute. The forward signed for Donald Turner's Thistle on Friday, 14th September, 1934, having most recently been with Morton. Aged 27, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 6th October, 1934, in a 1-0 defeat at home to Hamilton Academical in the SFL First Division. Amazingly, Hunter scored his first 3 goals for Thistle in the same match! His account-opening hat-trick was registered on Saturday, 27th October, 1934, in a 4-1 win at home to Airdrieonians in the SFL First Division. He scored the last of his 6 goals on Saturday, 17th November, 1934, in a 4-1 defeat at home to Dundee in the SFL First Division. He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 24th November, 1934, in a 2-1 win at home to St Mirren in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 6 occasions. His club-list included Bute Athletic, Morton, Alva Albion Rangers, Partick Thistle and St Johnstone. Hunter died on Thursday, 7th July, 1966, in Rothesay, Argyll and Bute, aged 59. |
