Charles Hunter Lyle was born in 1907, in Rothesay, Argyll and Bute. *

The forward signed for Donald Turner's Thistle on Friday, 14th September, 1934, having most recently been with Morton.

He made his debut appearance on Saturday, 6th October, 1934, in a 1-0 defeat at home to Hamilton Academical in the SFL First Division.

Amazingly, Hunter scored his first 3 goals for Thistle in the same match! His account-opening hat-trick was registered on Saturday, 27th October, 1934, in a 4-1 win at home to Airdrieonians in the SFL First Division.

He scored the last of his 6 goals on Saturday, 17th November, 1934, in a 4-1 defeat at home to Dundee in the SFL First Division.

He played his last game for the club on Saturday, 24th November, 1934, in a 2-1 win at home to St Mirren in the SFL First Division, having appeared as a Jag on 6 occasions.

His club-list included Bute Athletic, Morton, Alva Albion Rangers, Partick Thistle and St Johnstone.

Hunter died in 1966, in Rothesay, Argyll and Bute, aged 59. *
