Charles Hunter Lyle was born on Thursday, 27th December, 1906, in Rothesay, Argyll and Bute.

The forward signed for Donald Turner's Thistle on Friday, 14th September, 1934, having most recently been with Morton.

Aged 27, he made his debut appearance on Saturday, 6th October, 1934, in a 1-0 defeat at home to Hamilton Academical in the SFL First Division.
