Hugh McLean Thomson was born sometime between March 1887 to March 1888 in Glasgow. * The forward signed for George Easton's Thistle in September, 1911. Aged 23 or 24, he made his debut appearance on Wednesday, 6th September, 1911, in a 2-0 defeat away to Clyde in a Benefit match. There were no goals for Hugh during his spell with Thistle. He played his last game for the club on Wednesday, 3rd January, 1912, in a 5-3 defeat away to St Mirren in a Benefit match, having appeared as a Jag on 6 occasions. His club-list included Partick Thistle, St Bernard's and Ayr United. Hugh died in March, 1932, in Carnoustie, Angus, aged 44. *

Celtic Park. “One of the brightest (finals) in the history of the competition” (GH). Thistle were by far the better team but Rangers scored a scarcely deserved goal while McKenzie was off injured (35). Back to 11 men Thistle rued wasted chances and Thomson blasted over with just the keeper to beat (89). |
